As its Intel Intership too I get a nice discount on the processors
built with a mini ITX board
Specs
i7 4770K (haswell + discounted nicely )
asrock Z87E-ITX mini ITX mobo
Nvidea 770 2GB
16gb 2x8Gb 1600Mhz Ballistix RAM
256Gb Samsung 840 pro SSD
2TB Western digital HDD
500w corsair PSU
Screen - dell u2713hm

Re: My new gaming machine
Good system you got there now m8 .
Few things i would not have done/bought! 1 is the box, the other is 100% the PSU its to small for that setup,
A PSU is one of the thing i have learnt not to skimp on, it powers all your other things in your pc, so they will run at there best, 500w seems a little small. Ok you have only 1x gpu and the cpu might be low power, you prob would not get another gpu card on with that psu at least don't think so.
You should try and max it out and get some software to justify how many watts you're using 8O
Still very good parts even the psu but its low!
Hows it running?

Very nice, you beat me to it buying the 4770k. A very compact build too, that GTX 770 looks huuuge
As for the PSU, indeed it is small, but as you know very well Binksy, Corsair build rock solid PSUs which run quite happy at 100% load.
However that setup shouldn't be using much more than ..well lets see: 200w for the GTX770, 100w for the 4770k and about another 40-50w for everything else = 350w max
That's the very maximum you'd be using 'only' if you ran synthetic benchmarks (as real games don't run your CPU at 100% constantly). So although you don't have any headroom to allow adding another GPU for instance, I don't think that's a problem as you can't even fit another in the case.
Nice job Matt.

I cant fit a second gpu my build doesn't have a lot of upgradeability but I don't need it
gpu = 230W cpu = 84W so im well within power budget
mini-itx mobo only has one pciex16 lane nothing more
ran heaven all ultra at 2560x1440 and there has been no issues yet while staying reasonably cool
case is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =CA-074-BX
mini-ITX only but still allows for a beast of a graphics card as well as enough HDDs
got a blueray drive in there too to watch some nice movies on the Dell monitor

Re: My new gaming machine
Don't confuse TDP with the power requirements of hardware, the TDP refers to the amount of heat generated. The 4770k uses just slightly over 100w of power (under full load) and although the GTX 770 has a much higher rated TDP of 230w in real world testing I've yet to hear of one which uses more than 197w even with decent factory overclocks, however if you plan to max the overclock on your card you could possibly hit the 230w. Even with all that you should still be using less than 75% of the 500w available so that's still ok.
2560*1440 in Heaven benchmark?! haha that's damn nice!
The 4770k and the GTX 770 are a great combo.
On another note, could you please tell me what CPU cooler are you using and what are your load temps? I'm trying to determine if my current cooler would keep the crazy 4770k temps under control.
Cheers

I'm using stock cooler but have 2 case fans
1 x 140mm pull in at front
1 x 140mm push out at back
ive yet to max out cpu and cpu at the same time
CPU on load 77-85C
GPU on load 75 max

Re: My new gaming machine
Thanks for that matt, to be honest that's not quite as bad as I thought it'd be for the stock cooler in that little case, however still pretty toasty.
If I was you I'd keep an eye on your CPU temps while playing any CPU intensive game though :S
I wish AMD would make something a bit more competitive in the higher end CPU market, that way intel might actually use solder under the IHS on their next CPUs instead of this cheap/nasty stuff.

If i ever inted to overclock i will get a new cooler but for now it does all i need it too
AMD wont bring out anything that will compete with Intel high end for years they are really struggling in today market
they have just releases a new 4.7GHz octocore that can turbo to 5Ghz but that is for 3 party compaines only no OEM and has 220TDP!!!
AMD just dont have the budget or manpower that Intel has these day and the also dont have 22nm tech yet as the get their silicon manufactured by another company

Re: My new gaming machine
nice pc , just haswell is even hotter then ivybridge ,so cannot be overclocked so high . and 770 only has 2 gig video memory and its expensive .<- might be an issue when u have 2560*1440 screen in some games or future games.
i picked up 7950 windforce 3x from overclokers for 169 £ and its faster then 770 specially while 7950 clocked at 1150/1600 and has more video memory 8) .(of course u can clock 770 to )
I just refuse to buy gpu for more then 200£ as there prices are ridiculous , so happy with my bargain. PC is is very nice should last you years love that case specially in bright green color
Edit: those cpu temps scaring me ,is it overclocked? you should remove the lid replace his on cpu , but that will void the warranty, or get better cooler

you got a 7950 to 1150Mhz thats like 30% overclock your temps must be mad as well as huge power consumption
even then i dont think it quite beats a 770, the 7950 does have a high memory bandwidth but the texture rate and number of texture cores just isnt there
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/829?vs=856
still runs very nice at higher resolutions

Re: My new gaming machine
well not sure your right 7950 is faster (give or take few games) even while two of them overclocked in review there 7950 clocked only at 1100 core and 1575. this on your resolution 1440p there is video for 1080p as well .
my card is wind force 3x as well like yours , but it doesn't get hot at idle it sits 28 c and full load 68c (in benchmarks)
here my gpu-z pulling some crazy bandwidth 8O
