Hey guys,
Over Christmas I have started to have this issue with TF2. Every time I try to launch TF2 it starts a validation. The validation proceeds to 100% and doesn't do anything. I can it and relaunch and it validates again.
I have tried to reinstall, delete all steam files and the .blob but no joy.
The most frustrating thing is that it only happens with TF2 and no other steam game.
I have read on the net that this is a know issue and it a problem with patching. Anyway I hope it goes away. Currently my TF2 only boots up 1 out of 20 attempts.

Re: TF2 validating issue
Hard to say tbh, if the hivemind of steam forums doesn't know I doubt anyone here knows what it might be...
What I can suggest is that you start a validation on your own and let it finish completely, that means even if its at 100%, don't close the window until it says validation complete. If it says cancel, its not done yet, even if its at 100%.
I dunno, just let it do that and you go make food or something, should hopefully be done when you get back.
You've already done the other things that normally fix the various steam mishaps, so got nothing else to suggest I'm afraid...

Re: TF2 validating issue
Ah, you figured it out before i managed to respond. But yeah, what abbe originally suggested was half correct and the other half was to defrag the game. This happens when the game becomes heavily fragmented and one of the files becomes corrupt/can't be read because of it.
