Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
it is that time of year when the regs roving society looks at another trip, we have had two great trips to dublin and a great trip to edinburgh - as we are aware alot of the regs are from mainland europe so this year we are looking to venture in that direction instead, so those who maybe would have liked to come but were unable to, maybe this will be easier.
we are looking at possibly germany (berlin) or somewhere in the netherlands but if anyone has any other ideas feel free to put them here. we are looking to go for a long weekend/weekend in october and any reg is invited - partners also if they fancy coming along too for the trip and a bit of sightseeing with a fair few pubs thrown in :D :D
DaV edit: Edited title to make thread a bit clearer! :o Also marked as sticky!
Confirmed date: 8th October - 11th October
Please post / message on steam if this date is fine and we'll look to getting something booked soonish.

Re: regs roving society - time to move again
If this is going to be in Berlin, I might consider it, as it's not far away from where I live (I'm in Szczecin, Poland).
Although I'm not sure if I'd be a good company. I'm like a pug

Would be great if you can make it! New faces on the meetup always welcome.
Nothing set in stone yet, regarding time or location, but later in the year is looking better (October) than earlier. Should work out a little cheaper also.
Thoughts welcome on location - definitely somewhere in Europe this time as the last meetups have been in the UK. Some current suggestions are Berlin and Amsterdam.
Any questions / thoughts feel free to post here or find me on Steam :o

Re: Next THG Meetup - regs roving society - time to move aga
It seems that the second most active country on THG is Netherlands so it would be only fair to have it there. I'd prefer somewhere in Germany myself of course but I'm so far away it doesn't really matter much. October sounds okay.
Though no idea if I'm going to be there yet. It all depends on how my plans come together in the next month or two.
Sure as hell want to see the faces behind those names and voices.

You'd think that, but Dutch people also like to visit places they've not been before!
Also given that accommodation is most likely the single biggest cost for the meet and that most will need it (unless they're lucky enough to live in the city we're going to), you probably don't 'save' as much money as you think.

nice idea for that edit dav, but if you remember there is a reason i have not called it a thg meet since the first one....
all welcome thg regs or server regs :D it is always great to put voices to faces and names (unless you are stsc, bits, or bot atm - i mean amt)
Glashio suggested Frankfurt...waiting for his thoughts :)

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
Yes! Frankfurt has the biggest airport in Europe (good tickets prices). And has a nice city centre 17/18 october i'm on a familyweekend.
P.S. Amsterdam is also fine for me

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
Add Frankfurt to the list of possible destinations!
Can get direct flights easily enough - hotels around 100 euro a night. Similar to Dublin.

Bump for obvious reasons.
So where are you guys going?
What is the initial plan? What do you guys want to do?
How can we/they entertain the Britain people?

Good question, nothing decided yet :o
Looks currently like the top destinations are Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Berlin. Pretty sure there'd be no issues getting flights and hotels for any of these places.
I think any weekend in October is fine for us. November would work too.
Are you thinking of joining us Coins?

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
Count me, and possibly my lady, in.
Could car-share if anyone from the UK wants to drive there, which would make travelling there a bit cheaper, hopefully. ROAD TRIP!
I meant to go to the Edinburgh one last year but I didn't arrange things early enough and it snuck up on me.

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
Should be no problem to get the days off, so I'm up for it.
Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Berlin are all fine for me. And all cities have good connections with airfields around Europe so that shouldn't be a problem for people going by plane.

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
it is looking like amsterdam is becoming the favourite, apart from the 17th and 18th so Glashio can join too, are there any other dates we should try and avoid that people cannot make?
also if anyone uses voyageprive website, there is a 60% off deal for a really good hotel in amsterdam - so apart from hotels.com this is a really good place to look for example 3 nights through them is £420.00 and through hotels.com is £509.00 - groupon is another good place to look
also it doesnt have to be right in the city centre, we can taxi. any thoughts from the dutch contingent on where to stay?

Re: Next Meetup - regs roving society - time to move again
I'd need to ask very nicely to get the 10th/11th off work, any other weekend shouldn't be a problem. If the 10th suits everyone else better I will go start begging...
I'd have thought earlier in October would have more chance of better weather - can someone more local confirm that?
