| After a big discussion we have come up with this! it was a joint effort from all admins inc server admins. We want to try and make you all happy and keep us going strong as a great community.
So we came up with this "for now"...
From the posts on the forum over the last week, it’s clear that the crits are quite a divisive issue within the THG community. In addition, it’s also clear and has been for a while that THG is a relatively high-skilled server with two distinct styles of play; one with more of a competitive focus where no random crits are preferred and the other, a more casual vanilla game mode that’s more forgiving and attractive to players with less hours at the game.
In an attempt to provide a place to play for members on both sides of this, we are going to do the following:
- One server will be vanilla/casual and have crits enabled.
- A second server with the crit-vote plugin installed and more focused on competitive based team-play.
Going forward the admins will promote both servers through steam announcements but both servers require help from THG regulars to help them and to make this set up work.
Although we realise there’s a risk to spreading community members across two servers rather than one, it’s a necessary change to allow THG to service the community members we have already, but also allow THG to grow. Anyone who’s had to queue for 45+ minutes to get on #1 at peak time will tell you, it can be frustrating experience. It’s hoped that this change will lessen some of the server-slot pressure but also allow more randoms to join, and randoms do become regs. Everyone who’s a part of THG now started in the same position.
Eventually we may even end up with two happy and full servers which is the most ideal outcome.
We realise not everyone will be 100% happy with the changes, but we've tried to keep things as fair as possible, while also allowing THG to go from strength-to-strength. We'll be monitoring how the changes affect THG as a whole and may re-evaluate further down the line if any changes are required.
We also intend to set up a third server to take advantage of the new matchmaking modes from Valve, but this won't occur immediately..
We hope that this will work as we hope that you all make effort to help this work, it is possible so lets do it.
