As Binksy pointed out, maybe someone should write a thread on the big update due around april the 14. I won't make this too long cos I need to got bed, but here goes...
Incase you don't know about 'said' update, this is the first of a series of large updates for TF2 unlocking new game content. The update due for the 14th of april will unlock a whole new gaming style to liven things up a bit. This new style is called goldrush (or that might be the map, I'm not too sure). In this game one team has to transport a mine cart of explosives along tracks across the map and into the enemy base, the more people that stand next to the card, the faster it moves, while the other team defend their base by preventing the enemy from going near the mine card and making it move. The update come with just one new map as far as I know and this is for this new game style.
Aswell as the new gaming style it has been anounced that new unlockable weapons will be available, which can only be aquired ingame when particular targets are met. This particular update only includes the medics unlockable weapon, but this in its self could evolve the way we defend key areas of maps. Instead of the option to make a particular ally invulnrable for a short time, the medic will now have an unlockable ability to make an ally shoot 100% crits for a short time. So now the medic will have the decission of which type of uber they wish to use. Both types of uber have their pros and cons so it will require a decission of which uber will do the most damage or allow you and a team mate to progress throughout the round.
As far as I know steam will download the update as usual but it will no dout take quite a bit longer than last time due to its much larger size over previous updates.

First time i have heard about the new map and the big update but its good news i guess but like binks said i hope they dont change the gameplay to much because i like the way its running at the moment.
But i do like the way that you can chose to either do a Uber or a critical hit charge now that does sound good.
And as for the new map well that looks like its going to be absoloute madness it looks amazing.
Goldrush looks really interesting - I think I had a preview of this game type on some other random server which was running a custom map that involved pushing a cart through a mine. Nobody really understood what was going on at the time, so almost everybody left right away and they inevitably changed the map back to 2Fort
I can see the Critical Ubers changing things considerably - you won't be invincible while you activate them so charging into sentries and heavies will be out of the question. I'm guessing it'll bring Heavies back to the front with Critical Uber charges, since even at middle or long range a critical shot from a heavy can seriously dent player health and scare most of them off for medikits. I find myself going for Pyros with the invulnerability Ubers most often just now, they cause mayhem with 10 seconds of invincibility as long as you can get in close.
I wonder if you'll be able to capture points while using the new Ubercharge - you can't with the original.
Multi-Uber will come back into its own since you'll probably need to quickly find new blood for your Critical Uber when the opposing team takes down your first choice with a sniper
Yeah I have heard of a few unofficial maps that use the new gaming style which are already in use, but I think I'm gonna wait for the official release first, before I go and play any custom maps. I wonder if you can stand on the mine cart, an ubered heavy on the cart could be mighty useful
I also just realised I forgot to mention the new cut scene stuff used on Goldrush, it is not known yet what this entails, but as long as it doesn't dent game performance on my computer, I'm happy

Yah it is i think. This morning there was an update so the steam updater said.But it took ages and i had to goto work. Ended up asking my gf over the phone to create a ticket and ask whats up with the updater and could they check and start the server.
This happend at like 1pm GRRRRR Any how i tested to see if it had an update all looked the same so i checked again and it tried updating. In the end the host said there must be a prob with the updater and did it for me.. so hope to hell its fixed soon or ill have to rely on they to do the update when the big one comes.. Its there built in updater as valve has modified theres we think = why it thinks we need an update ...Must be due to the new changes coming
Well i have work tomorrow again 5 am.. but the server will be on all day for who ever want to get it rolling
I have heard rumours that the difficulty of the acheivements has been adjusted to reflect things that are more likely to happen in normal gameplay. Then again there have been so many rumours I will wait until it comes out.
The last set of achievements are broken for me anyway (I'm pretty sure I have played a full round with every class by now, in fact at the last check, I have done this 12/9 times, which I thought was quite impressive.
If it works, great, but I get the feeling we'll have an influx of woeful medics for a week!
