Having played around with it for some hours I'd have to say, it's not THAT bad but it feels to compromised. It only does 10% more damage than a normal body shot if you actually headshot someone. You do get pinpoint accuracy... kinda because the crossair is messed up for precision shooting.
Its also not that different from the normal gun if you compare it to other weapons like the backburner, FAN, blutsauger, the beaux. It doesn't give you a new gameplay element to take advantage off. Sorry but 10% more damage on long distances, while doing about 20% less damage close range is just not worth a new gun imo. It's like a new soldier rocket that flies a 15% faster but does 20% less damage, honestly who's waiting for that?
I can live with all that though  but what I despise most of all is is how they present the gun: Valve advertise that its powerfull "put two weels under it and it's a cannon"... now can someone tell me why it does less damage than the normal gun? Also it the description reads: "Crits on headshot", well... it doesn't.

Sorry for the ranting but I'd really like peoples opinion on it. I do like the new watches, a lot!

I haven't got it yet Sad.

All I can say about it is that if they kept it as more accurate but less damage and lower speed and remove all this cooldown and not damaging engi  buildings rubbish then I would definately say it sounds balanced in theory.

The ambassador is overall a worse gun the the regular revolver, except at long ranges, but if you intend to kill people at long ranges then you're playing the wrong class.

However, the Ambassador has an undocumented feature (or bug, most likely): It shoots thru people/buildings. I managed to kill an engy turtling behind his sentry just by shooting through it. He didn't have a dispenser tho, because at 46 damage each headshot, a lvl 3 dispenser would heal that right up between shots.

Other than that, it's just awfull. It doesn't even sound/look good.

Depends on your style as spy though since if you are one that likes to pick off those that have low hp (especially good on arena) then the ambassador would be better since you would rely on accuracy.

The maths has been done, and at any range the damage if equal to the normal revolver if you headshot with every shot.

Fyr, it is designed to have body penetration. They would have fixed it in the patch that changed it if that wasn't the design.

I am disappointed in the Ambassador, to say the least. I was really looking forward to sneaking into a position and killing people in 2 or so accurate [head]shots. Screw that.

When I was trying for the "Skullpluggery" achievement (Kill 20 snipers with a headshot) achievement, I used the Ambassador over the knife. It took 4 HEADSHOTS AT POINT BLANK RANGE to kill one. Of course they're gonna turn round and machete you.

I have gone back to the Revolver. I am now realising just how good that can actually be...

And the texture and modeling of ambassador looks like crap..Even the Magnum of half-life 1 looked better -.-''

Ok, i got the ambassador now, and its useless crap.
The crits are not normal crits but mini-crits which is only 35% more damage. (46 damage, which is 9  to 14 less damage than a close ranged revolver shot) (and even the minimum damage of a close ranged ambassador shot!)
On top of that it deals 15% less damage overall, has no 120 damage crits, and the fire rate is 20% lower. Which means the normal revolver deals 1.25/0.85 = 1.47058824  more damage per second.
The revolver also was accurate enough already.
And on top of that. It simply too weak to snipe engi buildings now.

So to recap:
The revolver deals roughly 50% more damage over time!
The revolver is accurate enough for nearly all situations.
The revolver deals 120 damage crits.
The ambassador only mini-crits on headshots (only 46 damage!)
Too weak for sentry sniping.
Shooting through stuff is not in the dictionary of any spy and not even remotely useful.

Oh and I forgot to add that it becomes less accurate on top of the slower fire rate because this "cannon" has to cooldown between shots because of its "powers".
Even though you can still get headshots at close range   to a good extent while it cools downs. It has completely no use. Why aim at the head if you can deal the same damage by shooting someone on the body with revolver:
Simple maths:
Average revolver damage (close range) 57.5
Headshot : 46
Rate of fire modifier: 1.25
Damage per second: 1.25 / (57.5 / 46) = 1 !!! So you need to aim at head constantly to achieve the same damage as a revolver.

Yeah, got the ambassador today and the first thing I noticed was that this "cannon"
Does little to no damage on a headshot, and that I could only kill someone if they were on so little health
I may as wellhave been shooting a blind deaf and dumb kid with no limbs!!!
