Not usually a fan of playing MP games when they are just released as you have to go through that teething period of playing with people who are still learning it, but I haven't played any games this year and am in the mood for something new so picked this up.

If anyone wants to add me, it's Precizion#2435

If the idea is to make #2 a server that can be used to play on while waiting to get on to #1, it might be an idea to limit it to just a small rotation of the more popular PL maps. The server used to fill up reasonably well with just randoms when it used to be like that.

If we are having a reskin of Upward on, might be an idea to put Badwater Snowy on, if only just for Christmas.

I don't know, having that is probably a good idea. 30 minutes is more than enough for a map. Just look at Dustbowl and Goldrush where one of the main reasons I expect they don't get much play time these days is because they both go on forever.

Would be great to have Gothic back on again.

Hope to be able to play, but won't know until around the time the game actually starts.

It's a shame the forums have never been all that active, considering how good a community we have on the servers. It might be an idea to look at changing the layout of the forums to see if that changes anything. I mean, I can't remember the last time I actually opened up a sub-forum on here. I just tend to glance at the box at the top, see if there's any new posts, and either click on there if so or move on. I expect it's the same for many others, so that means that people just aren't seeing any of the older posts and thus aren't thinking about replying to them and keeping them active.

It would probably be better if we did away with both the box at the top and all sub-forums and just had one main forum where everyone can easily just glance at all the threads on there. You could easily replicate the function of sub-forums like introductions for new players with a simple sticky thread at the top. If it was set up this way it would perhaps make it easier to keep active the sort of mega threads that keep smaller forums going, such as what games are you currently playing, what tv are you watching etc. Because the way it's set up now, if a threads drops off the few in the box at the top, it tends to get forgotten.

Of course, changing it is no guarantee. Perhaps the community just isn't that big on posting. But I think it'd be worth a try, especially if a few are also willing to put in a bit of effort for a while to get things rolling.

I'm in. Not fussed what class.

If we are struggling for players, it should be easy to grab some off the main server. Might be easier if mumble wasn't a requirement though. Isn't the ingame voice good enough?

Hey guys! Map maker here! Make sure you have DL the latest version from the shop. I believe the one you guys DL'd had a pretty... significant bug. So please do make sure! Thanks for getting this up! I super appreciate it! Very Happy

Yeah, we tried to play this last night but ended up having to change it right off because everyone on red fell through the floor. The server needs the newer version put on.

Even though modded Minecraft is a lot of fun and it'd be great to play it with other THG regs, I think the problem with it wouldn't be keeping all the mods up to date, it'd be having a real active admin on the server. There are so many little problems that can crop up, be it a simple bug or something causing lag, that unless the admin is actually playing on there, it's not really going to be worth the effort for them, as they will constantly be badgered.

As for other games, it might also be a good idea to set up a stickied thread where people can post games they have and are willing to play multiplayer with. For instance, I've noticed quite a lot have Civ V, and if anyone is in the mood for playing that they can just check there and then give the people who listed that game a shout of Steam to see if they're up for it.

That's a good video Olshi. Enjoyed watching it.

Of late, I feel you on the crits thing. For the past few weeks it seems every time I walk around the corner I get a crit rocket in the face. Although considering the classes I tend to play, perhaps it's just a well due pay back.

Not really a fan of the final cap changes since the last version we had on the server. The new bit below that allows you to get around the back tends to favour the defenders more than anything, as it either splits up the attack (who struggle to get round that corner as it is), or allows the defenders to sneak behind and do some real damage.

Opening up the back by the reds spawn doesn't help either, as is gives snipers a much easier time of it. And if you have real good snipers, as we do on THG, it's real hard to get people to push in and apply pressure.

Not sure what you could change to fix it, but if you kept the new lower bit the same, it would probably be a good idea to look at tweaking the right area (from the attacks point of view), allowing them to push in and and apply pressure from another angle. Right now, it's a bit easy for the defending team to hold anyone off going through that area. Perhaps making that area higher ground would help. You could raise it slightly and then force the red team to do a slight trick jump to get up to it such as the way jumping on the sign on dustbowl stage 2.2 works, as that would slow the reds holding that area a bit more. Or if you made it all the height of the top bit at the back and make it more in to an attic that looks down on to the reds area (and give reds access to it from a staircase right at the back). Not sure how well that would work balance wise, but any kind of vertical geometry would be good as it makes for much better fights and that should be taken in to account.

Sounds like the server is getting like the old days. One solution would be to do like we did back then and start the server up a lot earlier on regular basis. That way peoples play times are staggered and you get people leaving over a more spread out time, rather than the way it currently is with everyone joining at once and hardly anyone dropping for a good hour or two.

Would probably be a good idea to give a few more people the ability to put out announcements, which would help do that.

You know I'd be up for it. Would personally prefer Pokerstars since some of my old bankroll is still on there, but will happily go along with whatever the majority wants.

Good to have you back playing TF2. And if you're bothered about it, might be worth asking Carlos to see if it's possible to retrieve your old account.
